Organizational Development
Organizational Development (OD) is a systematic, integrated and planned approach to improving the effectiveness of an organization. Organizational Development is comprised of several, often overlapping components:
- Organizational Structural Design
- Cultural Assessment and Development
- Change Management
The OD process generally involves three major steps:
- Diagnosis
- Intervention
- Evaluation
Successful Organizational Development processes are built on a foundation of mutually agreed upon mission and vision statements, concrete and measureable strategies to accomplish business objectives, and core values that clearly define the desired culture.
The benefits from Organizational Development initiatives are significant and tangible. According to a study by McKensey, companies who invest in Organizational Development realized a 40% increase in productivity in operations roles, a 49% increased profit in general management roles, and 67% increased revenue in sales roles.
